Upon completion of the project, Allen started his own residential construction company, until he was offered a job back with Haley Construction in 2008.
Allen shared ownership from 2008-2023. In that time, he has developed relationships with municipalities, subcontractors, vendors and many wonderful clients.
The invaluable experience allows Allen to read plans, work with subcontractors, construct buildings within budgeting specs, and coordinate the entire project from start to finish.
Allen Crary was introduced to construction by his grandfather at the age of ten. He lived in a 100-year-old cabin, which meant lots of maintenance during his summer vacations.
The project began with reroofing the cabin, due to damage from carpenter ants. Several years later, Allen helped with a full remodel. He learned basic carpentry skills, demolition, and every other aspect of remodeling a home. Allen discovered that working with his hands created unexplainable satisfaction.
In 1993, he received his Assoc. Degree in Construction Technology, all while holding a full-time job farming. Other opportunities included working for a local builder who constructed spec-homes. The houses were built from the ground up; earthwork, roofing, framing, trim carpentry, footings, block, painting, tile, landscaping. After several years, Allen returned to framing homes, before landing a job installing tile.
In 2003, he was hired as a general contractor to oversee a 7,000,000 house. The construction included structural steel, masonry, concrete and metal framing. The project introduced Allen to commercial construction builds.
